Faculty Bios

We are delighted to welcome our faculty members this year!  Read on / scroll down to see what they “bring.” Our students are lucky indeed.

Leah Hamilton French teaches theater arts and directs the after school drama program at Salem High School. She is passionate about helping students use theater to tell the stories they care about. Leah holds an MA in Theater Education and Applied Theater from Emerson College and a BA in Anthropology from Wellesley College, where she performed extensively with the Wellesley College Shakespeare Society.She is thrilled to be joining a community that is so passionate about the arts!

Alexis MacTaylor is the Salem High School Choral Teacher. She is a Salem High School graduate, and is thrilled to be back at the school teaching. She graduated from Gordon College where she earned a  Music Education degree, and a Minor in Chemistry! After teaching at Manchester Essex Middle School, and at the West Tisbury School on Martha’s Vineyard, she’s looking forward to getting to know everyone at SHS, and having a great year of music making! 

Cyndi Napierkowski has been teaching in the Salem Public Schools since 1987,filling numerous music educator roles for 35 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from UMass. Amherst, and an  M. Ed. degree from Cambridge College. Cyndi has served in various local organizations, such as Salem Little League, in different capacities. She has received various awards for music education, and civic volunteer work, such as the George N. Parks Leadership in Music Education Award, and the J. Michael Ruane Community Service Award. Cyndi was also featured in the “North Shore 100” magazine! Cyndi is married to trumpeter and music educator Mark Napierkowski. They have two children, Christin and William.
